That truly depends on the grooming service, dog size, coat type, and behavior during grooming. On average most dogs start to finish take about two - three hours. Severely matted dogs can take up to 4-6 hours. I offer three different servicers, Suds N' Dry, Royal Works, and Floof Be Gone.
Please note that I do my best not to stress dogs out. I only work one-on-one with dogs and I want your dog to trust me and have a pleasant experience. Sometimes that means giving the dog a break for a little bit or taking things extra slow. Your dogs well being is my top priority.
I use several different shampoos and conditioners. Everything I use was fully researched and chosen carefully. The product I use depends on your dogs coat type and condition. If you have a special shampoo & conditioner or brand you prefer I'll be glad to use the one you have.
Only if wavier is signed. Dogs that have undercoats or a double-coat that are shaved can have problems afterwards. When their skin is exposed after a shave, this can cause sunburn and/or cause them to overheat. Double-coated dogs can self regulate heat with their natural coat, so shaving them DOES NOT make them cooler. The natural coat actually helps to repel extra heat and shaving makes them hotter. If you shave your double-coated dog, you destroy their temperature regulatory system. For that reason it is far better for dogs with a double-coat to be brushed on the regular to help them remove dead hair and reduce the shedding. I offer a Floof No More service especially for these dogs and recommend it no less than once a month to reduce the excessive amount of shedding they do.
If this is a service you would like I require a signed form stating that I have permission from you to both pick up and drop off your dog from your home and transport them to my location. All dogs will be put in a crate or buckle harness during transport for their safety.
I will pre-arrange a time to pick up your dog(s), transport them back to my location, groom them and then when done I will let you know and find a good drop-off time.
The cost depends on the total cost of your grooming services. I have a three tier level for pricing as follows.
Total services cost $25 - $50, you will receive 2 miles FREE and then its $2 per mile
Total services cost $51 - $79, you will receive 3 miles FREE and then its $1.50 per mile
Total services cost $80+, you receive 5 miles FREE and then its $1 per mile
Example: You live 10 miles from me and total services cost $60. You will get 3 miles of the 10 free and pay for 7 miles which would cost $10.50. So Your grand total of grooming services and pick up & drop off would come to $70.50.
Please keep in mind I have to travel to and from your location twice to provide this service. Which means it requires a good bit of time, gas and car maintenance.
Both. The only package that include nail trim is the Royal Works. If you want to add nail trimming to Suds N' Dry and the Floof Be Gone you can but its additional. A basic nail trim is $5, the nail grinding is $10. NOT all dogs will allow the grinder, some dogs freak out with it. If you ask for the grinding and your dog simply won't allow it I will try to file them down with a nail file after I clip them, that way there won't be any rough edges. I do my best not to stress any dog out more than necessary for their own well being and we all know dogs hate their nails getting cut.
Absolutely! I have no problem with clients that have an appointment bringing their dog(s) to my location.
When a clients dog is at my house I will have my personal fur babies put up where there isn't contact. My dogs are well socialized but I prefer to keep mine and my clients dogs separated to be sure of no issues. Soon, I will have a building so that I can have a space dedicated to only grooming.
I have been a certified groomer for over 15 years. I attended a dog grooming school when I lived in Florida that provided me with a very good knowledge and understanding of the job. I am also certified by Animal Behavior College as a dog trainer. The two combined among with 39 years of owning multiple breeds of dogs has given me an understanding of dogs in many useful ways. I have been grooming family, friends and my personal dogs for years and decided to finally start a business. I am always learning new techniques and improving my skills, I feel like you can never know enough. I am still gaining experience with training before I am ready to proceed with providing that service also.
Absolutely! When a current client refers someone and then that person uses my services I offer both people a one time discount of 10% off. You can refer as many people as you want and each time get the discount. (Must be different household and discount is only once per referral.)
For returning clients I offer a reward system. Each time you use my services (Suds N' Dry, Royal Works, Floof Be Gone) I will make a record on it on your chart. After 10 visits you will receive 25% off on one service.
Some of it. My grooming table and crates are located in my daughter's bedroom, and you can see that. I bathe all the dogs in my master bathroom so that I don't allow. I am working on finishing an exterior building for all grooming, but it's costing me far more than what I thought it would so it's taking a while to complete.
Unfortunately no. Dogs tend to not focus and behave as well when there parents are present. Also, because I work out of my personal home and prefer not to have clients in my home hanging out. I do have report cards if you want one that I will gladly you to let you know how your fur baby did and let you know of any issues.
I will always strive to make sure your dog is safe and loved in my care. But, the dogs can be crazy and there can be all kinds of accidents and emergencies. If something ever happens while your dog is in my care I will let you know immediately. I get both my clients main communication information along with an additional person that can take your dog if you for some reason aren't able to. I also make sure to get your veterinarians information, medications, allergies, etc. Also as a precaution I have full first aid available since we all know dogs do crazy stuff sometimes.
I have experience with many different breeds and coat types, but not all of them. If I'm not sure about your dog and the best way to groom them or the breed standards I will do research before the grooming appointment. I want my clients to be happy with the services I provide and learning more is never a bad thing.
I am a full service grooming salon. I have three main packages to choose from along with add on's for each package.
Suds N' Dry - bath, dry and blow dry, ear cleaning, cologne.
Royal Works - hair cut, bath, dry and blow out, ears plucked/cleaned, nails clipped, paw pads shaved, cologne.
Floof No More - De-shedding bath (shampoo & conditioner), dry and blow out, thorough brushing, cologne.
You can add multiple other things to all three services. See the pricing list for more information.
While being actively groomed on the grooming table there will be a short lead that clips to a bar above the dog. This prevents the dog from jumping off the table and helps keep them safe while being groomed. When bathed they are in a tub in a bathroom with the door closed (just in case try to escape). If needed I can use a short lead to help keep dog in the tub. Your dog will never be left unsupervised while on the grooming table or in the bath. While not being actively groomed your dog will be crated securely or hanging out with me (my personal dogs will be put up). I will take dogs outside for potty breaks on a leash and away from my personal dogs if needed. If pick-up and drop-off is included in your services your dog will be either in a crate or in a buckle harness while being transported.
Simple answer is, it depends on the dog and services your wanting done. I try to base my prices to cover all dogs but there are times when there will be added fees. I try to go over anything that will cost extra over the phone but I won't know for sure until I see the dog and assess (rarely after grooming starts).
Examples would be if a dog is severely matted and takes extra time and attention to remove mats without overly stressing or injuring the dog. A dog that is aggressive and difficult to handle I charge more because I may have to have another person's help to complete to groom. If fleas/parasites are found after the grooming starts I charge a fee to clean and fumigate my home to prevent other dogs from getting them.
That depends on many things. I have broken it down below.
Dogs on average should be bathed no more than twice a month. Bathing to often can strip the natural oils from the dogs skin and cause them to have skin problems over time.
Hair cuts it truly depends on the type of cut and how fast the dogs hair grows. If you have the hair cut short when groomed then on average they will need a hair cut everything 6-8 weeks to prevent matting and tangling.
Brushing widely varies. Short coats don't need brushing at all or rarely unless they shed excessively. Long hair without an undercoat no less than twice a month (as long as they aren't getting matts in the hair). Dogs with undercoats need to be brushed weekly at minimum. If your dog is an excessive shedder then regardless of coat type its good to brush weekly or even every other day to help reduce shedding. Most dogs enjoy being brushed and it's not really something that can be done to much unless it's causing skin irritation or issues.
Yes. Because of the years of experience I have with my own dogs and also because of being a certified trainer I do understand dog body language. I do my best not to stress dogs out during their grooming so they can enjoy it and not learn to hate it. I will give breaks if needed and work slowly to gain the dogs trust and make it a pleasant experience for them. In very rare cases I may have to split the grooming into two sessions so that the dog isn't pushed to far and stressed excessively.
Aggressive dogs can be very dangerous to both me and themselves and it can be a complicated issue. I will do my best to work with aggression to a point but if it is to much I will not complete the services and will heavily discount or not charge you. If needed I will ask you find a different groomer that's a better fit or even recommend taking them to a vet.
I want my clients and their dogs to be happy with my services. However, there are rare occasions that I simply can't complete a groom due to aggression or other unforeseen issues. Aggressive dogs can be very dangerous to both myself and to themselves and I don't want anyone (human or dog) getting hurt. If this happens I will either heavily discount the service (depends on what was accomplished) or not charge you at all. If it's a case of aggression that I can't work around then most likely I will ask that you find a different groomer or even suggest taking them to a vet.
I never want a client to be unhappy. If for any reason you aren't 100% satisfied with my services please let me know. I will work with you to find a solution that fits the situation.
For the safety of all clients dogs I require rabies, DHPP (parvo and distemper viruses) and Bordetella (kennel cough). I require a print out from the vet so that I have a record of when the vaccines where and how long they are up to date.
Yes. Because I work out of my personal home I require that all dogs are on a flea/parasite prevention (monthly pill, collar or monthly topical), If I find fleas during a grooming session I will immediately bathe the dog in Dawn (yes the dish soap - its safe on animals but kills fleas instantly without the harsh chemicals of flea shampoos that can cause allergic reactions in many dogs). Depending on the severity of the fleas I will charge an extra $40 to have my house deep cleaned and fumigated to prevent other clients and my personal pets from getting fleas. If pick-up & drop-off services are also used there is also a fee of $40 to have my personal vehicle deep cleaned and treated for fleas.
Cancellations happen, its part of life. Please give me 24 hour notice if you need to cancel or change something. If its an emergency and notice can't be given I understand and as long as its not a recurring thing there will be no charge if your bringing your dog(s) to me.
If using pick-up & drop-off services I require 24 hour notice. If notice is NOT given before 1 hour of the time pick-up is scheduled I will charge a fee to cover the time, gas, and maintenance on my vehicle that was still used.
$10 for 5 miles and under
$15 for 5+ - 10 miles
$25 for 10+ miles
One-on-one simply means that my salon will only have your dog(s) in it at one time. There won't be other dogs barking or stressing out your pups. The only time this might not happen is if a dog is waiting to be picked up and the next dog has already arrived, but I try to avoid this.
